Begin at the window
Ask what the sky looks like today. Is it sunny, cloudy or rainy? Look outside together before choosing a word. In Malaysia, children may notice sudden rain, warm afternoons and puddles after a shower. Use the weather they actually experience.
Connect words to choices
Talk about why you take an umbrella or wait for the rain to stop. Feel a breeze in a safe outdoor place, watch clouds move or notice where puddles form. Keep explanations simple and never ask children to go outdoors during unsafe weather.
Try a tiny weather record
For a few days, draw one sun, cloud or raindrop to describe what you observed. Ask what changed from yesterday. You can also read a weather story or look at pictures that show different skies.
Use cards as a prompt
If you have weather cards in your learning materials, show one that matches the day and name it together. The view outside gives the word a real meaning.
