Pause and observe
Looking away does not always mean your child dislikes the activity. They may have noticed a sound, need a break or be ready to move. Pause before showing another card. Notice whether they return their gaze, point elsewhere or leave the activity.
Respond to the moment
If they come back, continue with one or two familiar cards. If they are focused on something else, stop and try later. You can also ask about what caught their attention. The conversation that follows may be just as useful as the planned card session.
Adjust next time
Try fewer cards or choose a calmer time. Sit together so you can notice facial expressions and gestures. There is no need to keep flashing cards to finish a set when your child has moved on.
Keep it positive
CDE Flash Card can help you access a ready topic quickly, but you decide the pace of the interaction. Ending early is a sensible choice when it keeps shared learning enjoyable.
